Tator Tot Casserole

2 lbs. ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1  32 oz. bag of  frozen tater tots
2 (10.75 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup (cream of chicken is alright too)
1/2 cup milk
One 8 oz. bag (=2 cups) of shredded cheddar cheese

For starters, preheat your oven according to your Tator Tot package, most likely 350. Go ahead and bake them until browned. Not necessarily following the packing cooking time direction, your going to re-cook (in the casserole) so, if they are still semi frozen after browning, it's ok.

In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the onions. Drain the excess fat. Add meat back to skillet and add your cream of soups and milk. Mix well.

Check your Tator Tots, they are probably close to being done. If so, turn down your oven to 350.

Grab a 9x13 casserole dish, or, whatever you have close to the same size.

Spread the ground beef mixture evenly over the bottom of the dish. Now smother with 1/2 of the bag of shredded cheese. Top that with 1/2 of your browned Tator Tots.

Repeat steps. Add your meat mixture, other 1/2 of cheese (reserving a little to sprinkle atop the last final layer of Tots. Just for looks.

Bake for about 30 minutes until the cheese is all gooey and bubbly.

Dig in!!

This dish freezes BEAUTIFULLY! Follow all the steps, except don't bake it. Cover with Saran Wrap and freeze.  Take out of freezer a few hours prior to baking to thaw. Bake as directed.
